The History of Deep-Dish Pizza
According to Wikipedia, "Chicago-style pizza is pizza prepared according to several different styles developed in Chicago. The most famous is the deep-dish pizza. The pan in which it is baked gives the pizza its characteristically high edge which provides ample space for large amounts of cheese and a chunky tomato sauce. Chicago-style pizza may be prepared in deep-dish style and as a stuffed pizza."
There are some debates about who first developed the Chicago-style deep-dish pizza: some say that it was invented in Chicago, in 1943, by Uno's founder Ike Sewell.

An article from the Chicago Daily News in 1956 states that Uno's original pizza chef Rudy Malnati developed the recipe, and the Chicago Tribune reports that, according to the descendants of Saverio Rosati, that deep-dish pizza is on their menu the same today as when Rosati's Authentic Chicago Pizza opened way back in 1926.
But no matter who is the original inventor, Deep-Dish Pizza is a Chicago staple and is enjoyed by millions of people yearly.
