How to Make the Best Strawberry Rhubarb Pie
Posted by Candi Carey on Jun 8th 2021
June 9 is National Strawberry-Rhubarb Pie Day and boy am I excited!
I may not consider myself a “foodie” but I do love to celebrate delicious food that everyone loves! I don’t know a single person that doesn’t love Strawberry Rhubarb pie, so I’m sure you will all join in on the celebration with me.
If you are new to rhubarb, the best way to use it is hands down in a dessert and paired with strawberries. It’s delicious! Learning how to make the best strawberry rhubarb pie is the best way to celebrate this ingenious, mouth-watering recipe! Oh, and just for the fun of it, let’s throw some other delicious strawberry-rhubarb desserts in with it!
Making A Great Strawberry Rhubarb Pie
Making a great strawberry rhubarb dessert isn’t as difficult as you may think it is. It’s just a matter of having the right ingredients, the right tools and the right recipes.
Finding the Best Ingredients
Making the best Strawberry Rhubarb Pie starts with the ingredients. You can use all of your typical baking ingredients, just be sure and use good quality produce with these.
I personally love buying my summer produce at Farmers Markets and farm stands, but you may find some very good produce at your local grocery store too.
If you aren’t familiar with cooking with rhubarb, here is your first step: RELAX. Rhubarb is actually an incredibly easy ingredient to cook with and wow, does it add flavor!
One of the best things about rhubarb is that it doesn’t require much prep when it comes to baking it. You just rinse it off and chop it up. That’s it! It's ready to go right into your recipe.
Using the Best Tools
I’m sure you can guess what I am about to say here, but using the right tools is absolutely imperative to making the best strawberry rhubarb pie and any other dessert that you will be baking.
All of the recipes that I will be discussing below can be made with delicious precision with the superstone® pie & pizza baker. This is because superstone® stoneware material heats evenly, producing a perfectly browned crust. Additionally, the unglazed interior pulls moisture from the dough, producing a light and flaky pie crust!
This is absolutely the best way to create that flaky crust that goes so well with the fruity inside and an ice cream topping (I can’t be the only one that enjoys a nice scoop of ice cream with my pie, right?)
We have multiple colors available in the pie baker. I personally love combining the strawberry rhubarb dessert with the red or the blue bakers. The colors of the dessert with the colors of the bakeware compliment each other very, very well. This means some really great Instagram posting opportunities for all of those IG friends of ours!
Serve it Up
If you need accessories for cutting and serving, look no further–– Sassafras® has a wood-handled spatula and a silicone-handled spatula for all your baking and bread-carving needs..
