When baking bread, it’s necessary to score, or slash the dough with a blade to allow expansion when baking. This scoring will control the direction in which the bread expands and also impart an artisan appearance to your bread loaf.
You’ll need to make razor-thin slashes in the dough with a lame before you bake the loaf in the oven. We recommend lightly spraying cooking oil on the blade before use and rinsing the blade in warm water before each slash.
Our lame is comfortable and comes with four replacement blades and a leather pouch to cover the blade.
