Five Healthy & Tasty Pizza Recipes

Posted by

Oh my goodness, friends, it is time to celebrate! It’s a new year and for many of us that means it’s time for a new, healthy us! I don’t know about you, but my eating has taken a seriously negative downturn lately. This girl needs to get back to healthy eating.

My issue though? I LOVE PIZZA. That is one of the things I would really struggle with when it came time to cut unhealthy foods out. Luckily though, I don’t have to do that because lots of pizza is actually good for you!

When Was Pizza Invented?

Many people don’t know it, but pizza has been around for centuries, with the first documentation of the word pizza being in the year 997 in Gaeta. Although, we can be fairly certain that before pizza made its introduction, ancient Italians prepared focaccia bread with added toppings for a tasty meal.

If you want to make your own version of the original pizza, start out with this fabulous focaccia bread recipe from Gimmie Some Oven.

Pizza really became known world-wide though in World War II when allied troops experienced the dish, amongst other delicious Italian recipes for the first time and came to enjoy them and share them with their loved ones across the oceans and borders.

Let me definitely not be the first to say, thank you Italy–– or should I say, Grazie!

Superstone® BBQ Pizza Stone

As I’ve mentioned time and time again in all of my previous pizza posts, one of the most important things about perfecting a pizza recipe is the cookware you use to prepare it. The absolute 100% best way to bake a pizza, my friends, is with a Superstone® BBQ Pizza Stone!

This Pizza Stone from Sassafras® has a natural grooved surface for even heat distribution and a fire-proof finish, perfect for making pizza on the grill in the summertime or any old time you wanna have pizza outdoors!

the superstone® bbq pizza stone can also be used in any conventional or convection oven, giving this stone the most versatility. the unglazed superstone® stoneware pulls moisture from the dough, resulting in a super crispy and delicious crust.

Serve it Up

If you need pizza accessories for cutting and serving your pies, look no further–– Sassafras® has a wood-handled pizza cutter and a silicone-handled pizza cutter for all your baking needs.

Today though, I am ready to mix up my typical pizza talk, because today I want to talk about EASY, HEALTHY PIZZA!!! That’s right, y’all, I’m talking about pizza recipes that will work with your new eating plan for the new year.
