Keep the kids busy and having fun on their playdates with our yarn kits

Posted by

Do your kids love to have playdates? I know that mine do. Oftentimes though, especially during the cold and crummy weather, I am hesitant to sign on for playdates because I don’t know how to keep the kids and their friends busy. I want to let them be independent and decide what they want to do while they are hanging out, but I also don’t want them turning on the TV and staring at it for a couple of hours. For this reason and more, I love our yarn kits! Have you checked them out yet? I am always a fan of toys that encourage learning or help build imagination in kids, and these do both!

Here are some of the ideas of what you can do with our different yarn kits:

  • Learn how to knit. If knitting is new to your kiddos (and even if it is new to you) you can learn how to knit easily with our easy how-to instruction card. The Knitting Kit comes with 5 different color choices, so all of your first projects can be different! If you already know how to knit, you can add some accessories such as pom poms or tassels to your project.
  • Learn to sew. Sewing can be a handy skill to have as an adult, so a neat sewing kit made just for kids is a great way to get them started. Our sewing kit has 69 pieces to it and includes the following: 6 sheets of felt, 52 felt shapes, 4 sewing needles, 2 thread colors, scissors, measuring tape, polyfill stuffing, felt sewing pouch, and instruction card. Enough stuff to make some super fun creations!
  • Make cute little fluffy critters. If you are a little more advanced in your knitting skills and you are the creative type, you can even make fun little animals out with this same knitting kit! The kit itself comes with 12 pieces, which includes: 2 pom pom makers, 5 balls of yarn, 2 sets of wooden knitting needles, 1 scissor, 1 crochet hook, and the instruction card. You can use the pom pom balls you have made to create little yarn animals and felt (which you can get with our Sewing Kit).
  • Have a Jewelry Making Party. If you have tweens, I would be willing to bet that they will love the idea of making jewelry! Truth be told, I have yet to meet a tween that doesn’t. Plus, it’s so cute to see them wearing the jewelry that they have made. The knitting kit has all of the supplies needed to create cute bracelets.
  • Create cute, personalized decor. I just love this idea! You can use the knitting kit along with some cardboard (I’m sure you have some cardboard packaging still around from Christmas, right?). Cut letter stencils, in whatever size you choose, out of the cardboard and then cut a tiny slit at the bottom of your letter. Next, choose your favorite color of yard and wedge it into that slit and start wrapping from there. Wrap the yarn around the letter, covering it completely and then glue the end of the yard to the back of the cardboard. I like the idea of doing your child’s initials or full name to hang on the wall of their room.
  • Make a hanging tapestry. Check out weaving loom set to see the amazing creations you make with it! One of my favorites is a hanging tapestry. With 5 different colors of yarn in addition to the looming tools and instruction card, you will find everything you need for your youngsters to create this fun craft.

The kids will have so much fun on their playdate once they realize how creative activity options they have. In fact, it may be hard to get them to put the yarn kits down.   Plus, your visiting guests will have fun things to take home to show mom and dad!  Just a heads up though, you are going to have lots of handmade items from the kids to show off, so be sure to create space on the fridge, shelf, or wherever you share the kids artwork!
