Baking Measuring Dos and Don'ts
Posted by Lindsey on Jul 11th 2016
When you are baking with kids, it should be a fun and creative time for everyone. What about the educational aspect of the whole thing? Like measuring?
There are actually dos and don'ts of measuring while baking. Like how to measure, when to measure, and why. Here are some examples:
*DO use a proper set of measuring cups. DON'T ignore directions.
*DO use liquid measuring cups for dry ingredients and liquids. DON'T confuse ounces with fluid ounces.
*DO spoon flour into measuring cup and level off. DON'T use your measuring cup to scoop out flour.
*DO pack sugar and brown sugar into measuring cups and spoons.......
These tips are thanks to the Food Network. For a full infographic you can use with your kiddies, click here.
Are you guilty of any of the "don'ts" mentioned above? I have unfortunately used my measuring cup to scoop out flour many times. Oops! I guess that is a major "don't."
The Food Network is definitely a credible source to go by when it comes to baking. What measuring changes will you be making in your kitchen?
