It's a Sugar-Free Halloween

Posted by

Halloween is just around the corner, but this day and age sugar has been consumed completely out of the moderation zone causing major health issues amongst adults and children. Is there such a thing as delicious sugar-free goodness while having fun? There definitely is!

There are a variety of snack ideas out there to choose from. You and the kiddies can even get creative and come up with your own. Here are some fun ideas I've come across or made in the past. And yes, they are a hit with the kids!

  • Mini Pizza Pumpkin-Pizza dough, sprinkled with yellow cheese, olives for the eyes and a piece of lettuce shaped as the pumpkin stem. So cute and perfect!
  • Cheese and Pretzel Broomsticks-Not only are these simple to make, they look like mini broomsticks! Grab a mini pretzel rod, cut of the end of a string cheese stick and fringe the edges, and wrap a chive around the top. These will be the hit of your next Halloween party!
  • Frozen Boo-Nana Pops-Just dip bananas in your favorite yogurt, insert a stick, and freeze. To make it more festive add eyes with yogurt chips!
  • Silly Apple Bites-I've seen this one all over the internet. You basically slice up green apples into wedges and then slice a mouth in the center. Add strawberries slices as the tongue, sunflower seeds for eyes, and instead of chocolate chips for eyes use blueberries. Super cute and fun.
  • Grapefruit Jack-O-Lanterns-Would love to try this one. It's so clever. Just gut the grapefruit like you would a pumpkin, carve Jack-O-Lantern face, and fill the grapefruit with mixed fruit: apples, grapes, etc.

Have any healthy yet scary fun ideas? Add them to your list for your next party. Everyone's taste buds will love it without the guilt of sugar!
