Traditional Chicago-Style Deep Dish Pizza
This recipe works best with our Superstone® Deep Dish Pizza Maker and makes six to eight servings.
Basic Pizza crust
¾ to 1 lb. mozzarella cheese, sliced
1lb. fresh, peeled or 1 can (28 oz.) Italian plum tomatoes, chopped and well drained
2 tbsp. fresh oregano
½ cup freshly grated parmesan and/or Romano cheese
Prepare pizza crust. Transfer the dough to deep dish pizza pan, shaping so that the edge is flush with rim of the pan. Place mozzarella cheese slices over the bottom of the unbaked crust, layering as needed. Top cheese with your favorite filling ingredients.
Add tomato and oregano; then sprinkle with parmesan cheese. Bake in a 450º oven for 25 to 30 minutes until crust is golden and filling is bubbly. Let set a few minutes before serving.
