Halibut Steaks with Mushrooms and Shrimp

A simple baked fish topped with a trio of favorite accompaniments: mushrooms, shallots, and shrimp. Try this recipe using snapper or swordfish steaks. Makes four servings.

2 halibut steaks (about 1½ lbs.)
Lemon juice
2 tbsp. brandy
1 cup (½ pt.) sliced fresh mushrooms
2 medium shallots, finely minced (about ¼ cup)
3 tbsp. butter
1 cup small cooked shrimp, thawed and drained
1 tbsp. snipped chives or chopped parsley

Rinse steaks in cold water and pat dry with paper towels. Brush both sides of the steaks with lemon juice. Arrange in Bread Dome and sprinkle with brandy.

Sauté mushrooms and shallots in butter until soft and golden. Top steaks with shrimp and chives, then add mushroom mixture. Cover and place in oven at 400° for 15 to 20 minutes, or until fish flakes easily.
