Serve the Perfect Super Bowl Charcuterie Board

Posted by

Super Bowl Sunday is mere weeks away. Are you planning on watching the big game? Everyone knows that a good Super Bowl watch party needs to include delicious food. In the past we have done pizza, sandwiches, chili, and wings.

This year, I’m mixing it up a little bit. I’m planning to have a charcuterie board be the center of the party. And let me tell you, a charcuterie board really does make the perfect Super Bowl party food.

Have you ever made a charcuterie board? Have you ever heard of a charcuterie board? According to the article written by Webstaurantstore.com, "charcuterie (pronounced "shahr-ku-tuh-ree") is the art of preparing and assembling cured meats and meat products."

Why a Charcuterie Board Makes The Perfect Super Bowl Party Food

Charcuterie boards are great for snacking, not necessarily for sitting down and eating a meal. This is just one of the things that make them such a perfect Super Bowl party food. You can put several of these boards together and leave them out for your guests to graze and snack on throughout the game.

This is the perfect Super Bowl party food because not only are you making your snacking guests happy, but you don’t have to spend time in the kitchen working on food while the game is on.

If you are the cook of the house, I’m going to go ahead and guess that many of your previous Super Bowl parties were spent with you working in the kitchen. Not this year, my friends!

What are The Steps to Creating a Charcuterie Board?

The following steps are what you need to follow to create the most amazing charcuterie board There are several steps for creating the perfect Charcuterie Board:

What Type of Board is Needed for a Charcuterie Board?

Sassafras® is the place to find the best board to use a charcuterie board. Here are some of my favorites:

  • round marble and mango wood board - our bread and cheese boards add an artisan aesthetic to your serving table. The smooth mango wood adopts a weathered patina over time and the marble stands in cool contrast to the warm texture of the wood.
  • rectangular marble and mango wood board - our bread and cheese boards add an artisan aesthetic to your serving table. The smooth mango wood adopts a weathered patina over time and the marble stands in cool contrast to the warm texture of the wood.
  • rectangular baselina board - this beautiful board looks terrific on your buffet or coffee table when serving light appetizers. The cool marble surface prevents your cheeses from over-softening. also use the board to serve crackers, smaller bread loaves or fruits.

Head to the Store for Your Charcuterie Board Ingredients

It’s time to go shopping! For the best charcuterie boards, you need a selection of yummy ingredients. These include:

  • Cheese (go for a variety!)
  • Meat (prosciutto, salami, etc)
  • Crackers
  • Fruits
  • Spreads
  • Olives

The amount of each item that you need to buy will depend on how many people you will be serving. Here is the formula I use for determining how much of each thing to buy.

  • Cheese - I tend to stick to around 2 ounces of cheese per guest.
  • Meat - A good formula for meat is about 4 slices per person, although some people will definitely eat more than that, so it’s not a bad idea to have extra on hand.
  • Crackers - I like a variety so I almost always buy 4+ boxes of crackers. With that many boxes you have plenty for everyone and a delicious selection.
  • Fruits - Fruits tend to be just an accent piece so you don’t have buy a specific amount, or you can load the boards up with as much as you wish.
  • This one is just a guess too! I tend to buy 3 different jars of dips and 3 different jars of different types of olives. It seems to always be enough for my guests and they have never complained about the selection.

And be sure to check our post from last year, Serving Festive Snacks for the Holidays for more serving board suggestions!

Color Code Your Charcuterie Board

One of my favorite things about charcuterie boards is how colorful they are! The best looking charcuterie boards I have ever seen come in a color theme. Every time that I make mine with a color theme, I get tons of compliments too! That’s one of the reasons why I love to add fruits, that colorful vibe just makes the boards so much more fun.

Just imagine decorating your board with not only meats and cheeses, but also berries (raspberries, strawberries, and blueberries), dried mangos and bananas. Beautiful and delicious!

It’s Time to Fill Up Your Board

It’s pretty hard to overfill a charcuterie board. Your board needs to be full! Pile up all of your meats, cheese, crackers, fruits, olives, and everything else. It will look great, it will taste great and your game watching friends are going to absolutely love it!

Enjoy the game, your guests and your delicious boards, my friends!
