Are you looking for a new way too wow with those typical potatoes? If you are anything like the rest of us, you probably tend to cook the same foods over and over, and that’s okay.

There’s nothing wrong with consistency! Plus, potatoes have quite a few benefits that make them a wonderful staple around the kitchen table.

When you cook something often enough though, you definitely want to know how to prepare it in various ways to prevent boredom.

Directions for Roasting Potatoes

If you are new to baking potatoes in either of these products, here is a little run down of directions for roasting potatoes in the La Cloche® or the Covered Baker. It’s relatively simple, but you may find it easier to have an idea before you begin.

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  • Wash Potatoes
  • Slice potatoes into wedges
  • Leave the skin on the potatoes. This helps to hold moisture into the potato wedges, while also making the skin crispy.
  • Lay the potato wedges along the bottom of the Covered Baker or La Cloche® with space in between each piece.
  • Spray olive oil over potatoes and then sprinkle your seasoning of choice over them
  • Keep lid on the baker
  • Bake for one hour

Follow these tips and see that potatoes that are roasted with either of these bakeware products will turn out mouth watering and delicious!

How to Wash Potatoes

While at the time of this posting, it didn’t make the list this year, potatoes often make the list of most contaminated produce. This means that you will often find pesticides on potato skins as well as their flesh.

It is recommended that you buy organic, but if that isn’t possible, you need to be prepared to wash the potatoes very well. Here are some tips on washing potatoes the right way.

  • Rinse potatoes under cold water
  • Thoroughly brush with vegetable brush

Seasonings to Use for Roasted Potatoes

The best seasonings to to top roasted potatoes with is highly subjective, however some of the most popular seasonings and toppings include:

  • Garlic and Pepper seasoning
  • Minced Garlic
  • Fresh Rosemary
  • Fresh Thyme
  • Or simply use salt and pepper to taste

Other Ways to Cook Potatoes

As we mentioned before, although in my opinion roasting is the best, there are countless ways to cook potatoes. Potatoes are quite possibly one of the most versatile foods out there. If you are looking for other ways to prepare potatoes, here are some ideas:

  • French fries
  • Mashed Potatoes
  • Hash Browns
  • Baked Potatoes
  • Potatoes Au Gratin
  • Fried potatoes
  • Potato fans
  • And many more

Benefits of Adding Potatoes into Your Diet

Potatoes often get a bad wrap since they are carb heavy, however, they actually have quite a few benefits! Here are just some benefits of adding potatoes into your diet:

  • Good source of fiber
  • Potato skins are a great source of potassium and magnesium (another reason to make roasted potatoes)
  • High in antioxidants
  • 6 grams of protein
  • 40% of your daily value of Vitamin C
  • 50% of your daily value of Vitamin B

There are many people who suffer from celiac disease or other food allergies, which prevent them from being able to consume grain based sides such as pasta and potatoes are a great alternative side dish.

It’s also worth noting that potatoes are one of the most cost-effective foods available to buy. You can buy an entire 10 pound bag of potatoes for just a couple of dollars, which means that they are great for stretching your food budget.

Who knew that potatoes could be so great?!
