Learning as a Family

Posted by

One of the best ways to learn in life is learning as a family.  Who better to learn with, right?  Kids learn from their parents and parents can even learn from their kids.  Put it together and you have something pretty amazing.

As a married mom of three girls, I am always open to learning ideas that we can do together.  From visiting a museum to hiking, it opens all kinds of opportunities and even conversations.

Who says learning has to be boring?  It definitely doesn't.  Learning is not only an educational adventure it can also be exciting and fun for everyone.

I have compiled a list of ideas you can do together as a family not only for fun, but as a learning experience as well.

Writing a Family Newspaper

Sounds interesting, doesn't it?  I actually found this idea over at Playful Learning.  This is a fun and educational way to compile all of your family's adventures.  Parents can be the editors and the kiddies can be the reporters.  It also encourages writing which is a very important skill to have. Learn Photography as a Family

I have a few friends who are professional photographers or just do it as a hobby.  The professional photographer told us "it's not about taking pictures, it's about making pictures."  How great is that?  Photography is a skill and an art at the same time.  As a family you can learn photography together and make some amazing masterpieces just right through the lens.  Here are some links to how you can learn photography for free.  Click here for details.

Family Time with Legos

Legos aren't just Legos anymore.  They are becoming a part of something educational and exciting, especially for aspiring engineers, architects, etc.  Here is an activity guide to get your family learning and having fun all the while using Legos.

Homemade Apple Chips Recipe

As you know, apples are a healthy snack.  What about taking it up a notch and making apple chips, but involving the whole family.  It's definitely a great learning experience whether you have made them together or not.  Click here for the recipe.
