Is Roasting the Perfect Way to Cook in the Fall?
Posted by Candi on Sep 21st 2019
Fall has officially arrived, my friends! For me, that means that it is time to cook, and bake, and fry and roast. Seriously, Fall and Winter are my favorite times to cook. I mean, sure, the weather is cooler and I don’t have to stress about heating up my house with the oven on, but honestly, it isn’t just that. It is partially that, yes, but it is also because the holidays are coming, the kids are gone during the day, there is just so much about the season that makes me want to cook! Plus, the vegetables that are in season all taste amazing roasted. I don’t know about you, but I love roasted squash, potatoes, carrots, cabbage, and peppers okay let’s face it, I really could go on and on. These are my favorites. How about you?
Lucky for us, there is basically no better way to roast vegetables than with a Superstone Roaster! Seriously, you don’t know how great your roasted recipe can taste until you have prepped it in the best roaster on the market. So so good. There is just something about stoneware roasting that makes the food taste so much better than in other bakeware. Since I began doing my baking in stoneware, I have never looked back.
These are my favorite roasters to use and a little further down I will share with you some of my favorite roasting recipes:
Garlic Baker - “our unglazed garlic baker is the perfect size for roasting about 4-5 heads of garlic. the stoneware material produces a tender, juicy garlic clove to use in salad dressings, recipes, or just with olive oil and parmesan cheese in which to soak up your fabulous home-baked bread! you can also use the baker to roast potatoes or chestnuts.”The garlic baker is awesome for yummy roasted garlic. I love home-roasted garlic too for spreading on homemade bread with a little bit of parmesan. Okay, who else is hungry? All of this talk about food has me starving!
Superstone Bread Dome - “the "incredible" superstone® bread dome is an amazing product for baking breads and chicken, vegetable or meat dishes. the stoneware material replicates a professional brick-lined oven to create a dry, even heat and spectacular bread. the domed shape allows air to evenly-circulate around the baker for a uniformly browned crust on your bread while the unglazed lid helps create the perfect environment for baking crackly breads and juicy chickens and roasts. you may be familiar with making “no-knead bread” as popularized by jim lahey of sullivan street bakery. if you’re not familiar, you’ll find a recipe for “no-knead bread” below. if you are familiar, you’ll know that the shape of our superstone® bread dome is perfect to accommodate dough through it’s slow rise. best of all, you can use it for all of your baking needs! the glazed bottom won't absorb juices from foods so the bread dome maybe used for both breads, as well as, other dishes. the added hole in the lid allows the superstone® bread dome to release steam to prevent soggy breads. you'll love this product! bottom is dishwasher-safe. scrub lid with hot water and air dry. includes recipes.” This roaster is great for meat and veggies alike. It works so well that I have actually made both in it at once.
These are both my very favorite stoneware pieces to use for roasting vegetables. One more thing too, in case you didn’t know it, previously roasted vegetables are great for stew! Stew is always a hit at my house during the Fall and Winter months.
To roast the best vegetables you have ever had, just follow these simple instructions:
DIRECTIONS FOR THE BEST ROASTED VEGETABLES
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Combine all of the vegetable ingredients in a large mixing bowl and toss them with your choice of oil (I always go with olive oil here) to coat.
- Place the vegetables onto the Superstone® Sicilian baker, sprinkle with salt and pepper, and bake for 30–35 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender.
- One of my favorite things about roasted vegetables is that they can be served fresh out of the oven, or at room temperature, which means that they can be made the day before and enjoyed just the same. Perfect for meal prepping!
If you are looking for a specific roasted vegetable recipe, this one from Chelsea’s Messy Apron is one of my favorites.
If you need a great pot roast recipe, check this one out. Pot roast is almost always a huge hit in my meat and potatoes loving family. That being said, they also enjoy roasted chicken, turkey and just about anything else I roast up for them. And no, in case you are wondering, they are not picky when it comes to dinnertime. They just love good food!
