Crispy crust, soft, flavorful toppings with just a tiny bit of a crunch to go along with it. Oh my gosh, it is seriously delicious!

Are you interested in trying pizza on the grill? I will walk you through a little step by step on how to make the best pizza on the grill and I can almost assure you, you will never go back!

How To Make Pizza On The Grill

First of all, many people are going to tell you that you need to place the pizza directly on the grill. I do not subscribe to this way of thinking. I am a big, big fan of pizza stones and for good reason. They make for an amazing pizza crust! Before you even think about making pizza on the grill, be sure that you have a great pizza stone on hand. I’m sure it will be no surprise, but these are my favorite pizza stones to use:

pizza bbq stone - this superstone® has a natural grooved surface for even heat distribution and a fire-proof finish, perfect for making pizza on the grill in the summertime or anytime! the superstone® bbq pizza stone can also be used in any conventional or convection oven, giving this stone the most versatility. the unglazed superstone® stoneware pulls moisture from the dough, resulting in a super crispy and delicious crust. the superstone® bbq pizza stone has a glazed rim and easy-to-carry handles.

Of all the Superstone® Pizza Stones, the BBQ Pizza Stone is the only one recommend for open flames, great for outdoor barbeque.

Okay, now it’s time to get back to the basics on how to make the best pizza on the grill. First, mix up this delicious and easy pizza crust recipe. Then toss some flour onto your food prep surface so that you can easily press and stretch out your dough while keeping it loose and ready for the grill.

Heat your grill up to high heat and place the crust (free of toppings, on the stone) and place on the grill. Close the lid and cook for 3-5 minutes. Using tongs, check to see if your dough is lightly browned. If so, it’s time to flip. Grill the second side for another 3-5 minutes and then pull it off the grill.

Now it’s time for the good stuff! Brush the entire top of the crust with olive oil. Next, add your pizza sauce, mozzarella, meat of choice and toppings. Of course, you can skip the cheese and go dairy free, or add whatever cheese you prefer.

Place your topping filled pizza back on the grill, close the lid and cook for another 3-5 minutes. If you are finding that your crust is getting brown faster than the cheese is melting you can turn the heat down to medium and cook for another couple of minutes.

It’s time to enjoy your delicious grilled pizza! For best results, use a quality pizza cutter to slice your pie and keep extras such as flaked peppers, Parmesan, and rosemary on hand to enjoy.
