Heat Dangers for Kids and Pets When Traveling
Posted by Lindsey on Aug 26th 2016
It's very disheartening and alarming this day and age to hear or read news stories about people who leave their pets and children in the car during hot summer temperatures. This unfortunately seems to be on the rise. If you are planning to travel in the car or even head out for a short period of time, leave your pet at home. They will be protected from that hot summer heat.
Be responsible with your children as well. Children should never be left unattended for any reason. Always bring your child inside with you even if it's a quick trip to the gas station, drug store, etc.
Here are some examples of car heat dangers:
Even if it's only 70 degrees inside the car, temperatures inside the car can reach 89 degrees in just minutes and will continue to rise as more time passes.
The hotter the temperatures outside, the worse it is inside of a vehicle. For example, if it reaches 96 degrees outside, it is 114 degrees inside the car in as little as 10 minutes. Very scary!
With just a little bit of summer left, it still can stay in summer temperatures in many places until even the end of September. Plan smart and be safe!
